Time: 4:30PM-6:00PM (1.5 hours)
Cost: $120.00 aka $40 per 1.5 hour class

Have you always wanted to try pole dance, but been terrified? Do you want techniques to help with your anxiety, while learning to get your feet off the ground? This workshop series will include three 1.5 hour sessions, with a half hour to work with anxiety from different techniques and frameworks and an hour to learn pole technique. It will be trauma-informed and queer, trans and fat affirming. All bodies welcome! This workshop series will be taught by an experienced pole instructor, Steele Starling who is also a LCSW psychotherapist specializing in complex trauma and anxiety. Steele identifies as a bi, trans, abuse survivor, pole dance instructor and mental health therapist.
What to wear/bring:
A mask if you're taking class with Steele.
Layers are great! Please have a tank to/sport bra and shorts with or on you, Kneepads, Grip-aids, Yoga Mat, Water, Towel, Ginger if you get dizzy!

We are so excited to have you all apply for Spring Student Showcase happening April 13th, 2024. This is for current and regular Mynx Academy students. Please keep in mind we will try to have all applying Mynx students perform in some capacity but there is a possibility that we may need to turn some students down due to having so many students applying (amazing!) and if that is the case, then first priority always goes to those who have not performed yet or have had very little performance opportunities/experience. We really want to celebrate students' new skills and confidence! Veteran students we still would love for you to apply and volunteer! Don't be shy!
All further information is in the form. Please read the entire form twice before asking questions as it is likely answered.
Have the form filled out by Monday, March 4th 11:59PM. We will confirm students officially performing/volunteering sometime March 5th.

In this class we help students unlock the magic of their hands by exploring both the technique behind them, as well as the intricacies and nuance of how we can make them better communicate for us.

An ultra slow, dance-based workshop. In this class, students will learn a hypnotizing choreo filled with accessible, all-level movements. The focus here is not so much what you’re doing, but how you’re doing it. Tap into your sensual side, dance with intention, enjoy every morsel of your movement, and melt with me.

This workshop focuses on the best transitions and shapes specifically for plus sized folks! We are so excited to announce our second round of Intro-to-Pole Accelerated Series with Makayla! This class is specifically for students who are athletically inclined with past fitness, climbing, aerial, dance, or like experience. No prior pole experience required! Come ready to work hard!
Our regular series are typically 60 minute classes and 8 weeks before graduating levels. This Accelerated series offers 90 minute classes and is geared to level up students after 4 weeks.
The first 4 weeks are crucial so please make sure you can attend all 4 classes! However, if you know you are going to miss a date please email us at least 48 hours ahead so we can create a makeup solution.

Join Sarah Hoover of Sacred Journeys and Maria Huebert of ShapeShifts Coaching to explore your sensuality and heart space through sacred movement and deep inner connection to our feminine energy.
Maria guides us through a sensual sacral and pelvic floor yoga experience intended to support us in opening our spine, pelvis, and heart space. Sarah leads us into community through cacao ceremony, circle share and deep meditation with individual Reiki. Infused with crystal bowls, breathwork and individual presence, this Ceremony is an invitation to explore our desires, open to sensual possibilities, and align our movement with our truth and share in circle with one another.
Come ready to move and rest on your mat. Wear clothing that allows you to move, while feeling sexy and sensual (genitalia should remain covered)
Please bring the following with you:

Dark Matter with Kel Sek
Performance and Artistry Workshop
When: Saturday, February 18th, 2023

Dark Matter is a workshop designed for movers of all levels and backgrounds who want to cultivate their own personal stories and incorporate those stories into their work. During Dark Matter, students will have a safe space to sit with their studio family, and confront their own essential creative makings. The workshop covers ways to integrate students’ unique understandings into their pieces to yield a more personal and fulfilling connection with the audience and ones’ self. The outcome: a raw, feelsy, badass, relatable concept and seat for students to create and perform from.
Content:
Dark Matter will consist of a 20-30 minute lecture on the backstory, motivation, and ideas surrounding the creation of a performance in this category. After, students will have a reflection period followed by 4 movement prompts to assist in their portrayal of an emotion of their choice. To finish, students will have a short moment to ‘Give a Voice’ the scenario behind their piece, and will then utilize a dance phrase with music, to express the inspiring emotion or situation of their movement and in small groups, present it to the class.
What to bring: bring layers - Warm clothes, pole clothes underneath, grip aids, yoga mat (if you don't want to borrow) water, maybe a small snack, and a small notebook and pen
*** Note: The ‘Give a Voice’ exercise is NOT mandatory but highly encouraged as it is the culmination of the workshop. We will finish with breathe-work and Body Scan to end the workshop.

Stretch Workshop with Leah Franklin

This stretch class is focused on mobility and basic active flex gain. You will learn the ins and outs of how the muscles connect and work together to gain flexibility. Your body will leave feeling good and not overworked. We will cover all parts of the body in this class as well as review maintenance for stretching and contortion training if that is your chosen journey.

Bad Kitty Choreo with Leah Franklin

Prerequisite: Basic climbs & released (aka any layback such as cross knee release, ankle hang, etc) required
Signature sexy choreo by the filth queen herself. This class is all about unleashing your inner succubus. Learn choreo to a popular song that explores how to bring out the sexy up, down, and all around the pole. In this class, we will break down walls of insecurity through a choreographed routine that allows you to let go of control and really bring out the sexiest side you have to offer.

About Leah Franklin
Leah has been a dance of the pole variety for 10 years now. She began her movement journey as a young child, studying various forms of dance, & theater, & competitive cheerleading. She went on to pursue a degree in dance & music with an emphasis in choreography & pedagogy. After spending some time in Los Angeles, Leah moved back to Missouri, discovered pole dancing, and her life has since changed for the better. She is currently an instructor as well as the manager of Muse Pole Fitness located in Columbia, Missouri.
She has also been a dancer in the club industry for 8 years. Some of her biggest accomplishments include the North American Erotic Champion, 2018 Pole Theater Canada Classique Champion, & 2019 Dance Filthy Pro Champion. She is also the co-producer/choreographer of the Professionally Sexy show, Vertical Desires, and her most recent accomplishment has been opening her own production company, Bittersweet Productions.

10:00AM Low Flow Workshop with Suwasit
90 Minutes
Level: Level 2 +
In this workshop you will learn sexy choreography using ONLY the lower half of the
pole. Techniques such as base work, threading, dance without inverting, back dance,
wall dance, basic rolls, leg work, heel clacks, and unique floor work.
11:45AM Magic in the Air Workshop with Suwasit
90 Minutes
Level: Level 4 +
Pre-requisite: Artist must be comfortable with aerial inversions prior to this
workshop.
Challenge your pole skills, transitions, and combinations while in the air! Artists will
refine their technique and master variations of inversions, aerial handstands, and floor
work. Included is a short choreography using all the skills learned making this a
complete package workshop.
1:30PM Static Revolution with Sasja Fierce
90 Minutes
Level: Level 2+
Want to fly like Sasja Fierce? Spinning on static has
become a lost art. This workshop will concentrate on
learning how to use your grip to the advantage of your spin,
creating flow and beautiful spins on static in order to move
effortlessly, laterally and vertically on the pole.
3:15PM POWER Architecture II Workshop with Sasja Fierce
90 Minutes
Level: Level 5 +
Prerequisites: Aerial Inverts, Aerial Shoulder Mounts, Ayesha
in all grips
Raise the bar! Unearth the technique that allows you to defy
gravity with confidence. This intensive primes you for aerial
cartwheels, flips, grip switches, hand balancing, Kamikaze and
overall dynamic movement.
5:00PM Flying foundations: Mobility and Flexibility 101 Workshop with Flying Laura
90 Minutes
Level: All Level
Create more space, in body and life, for simple, functional movement that can lay a foundation for longevity, increase active flexibility and strength, reduce pain and prevent injury.
Learn a simple regiment, along with basic mindset for habit forming mobility practice. This applies for any level of fitness and experience and will improve the quality of your pole practice, performance and life.
Flying Laura has nearly 24 years experience at a high level of pole performance and has avoided major injuries, and is still able to perform. These exercises are a big part of it.
6:45PM Signature Flying Laura Workshop
90 Minutes
Level: Level 4+
An old school favorite, and as possibly the fastest person to perform and create no handed aerial pole tricks, flying Laura will teach her name sake leg switches, nuances and techniques to this very specific aerial pole skill with variations.
