Mynx Academy Class Levels

Mynx Academy offers Beginner Levels 1-3, Intermediate Levels 4-6, and Advanced Levels 7 & 8. Students brand new to pole will always begin with Intro-to-Pole before entering their first Beginner Level 1 class.

Mynx Academy uses half levels in Levels 1-3 as classes progress so Beginner students know exactly where they’re at and when their class may graduate! For example: Level 1 becomes Level 1.5 after about two months before officially graduating into Level 2.

Below you can find descriptions of each level.

*We will eventually be adding spin, trick, and movement lists for each level for students to reference on their pole journey!

Intro-to-Pole

In Intro-to-Pole students will learn everything they need to know about pole dancing in order to create a strong foundation before graduating into Level 1. Students can expect to learn how to create and use momentum and begin building the strength to hold their bodyweight. Students will learn their first basic spins, sits, tricks, and climbing!

Students can expected to be an Intro-to-Pole student for two months or equivalent before graduating into Level 1.

We offer Intro-to-Pole Series and Drop-In options

Beginner Levels

Level 1

Level 1 students require two consistent months or equivalent of Intro-to-Pole. Level 1 students can expect to master their first basic spins and learn how to combine and transition (dance) through them. Students will learn and expand on their tricks including but not limited to Sit variations, prepping for Laybacks, Jasmine, Genie, Hood Ornament, Fan Kicks, and climbing. Students will condition more heavily for inversions.

Students can expect to be a Level 1 student for two months before becoming Level 1.5 and Level 1.5 for two months before becoming Level 2.

Level 2

Level 2 students can expect to expand upon their Level 1 skills with longer combinations, new transitions, and harder spin and trick variations. Students should feel very comfortable with their basic two-handed spins, sits, basic knee grips such as Jasmine, Genie, and Hood Ornament. Level 2 will continue advancing climbs with forearm climbs and side climbs. Students will continue to work on and condition for one-handed spins such as Chair, Layback inversions, start descending into inversions and work towards solidifying their basic invert from the floor.

Students can expect to be a Level 2 student for one to two months before becoming Level 2.5 and Level 2.5 for one to two months before becoming Level 3.

Level 3

Level 3 students will focus on moving towards becoming an (Intermediate) Level 4 student with more aerial focused combinations. Students should feel comfortable with combining four or more one-handed and two-handed spins with transitions that move up and down the pole into tricks with knee holds and body holds. Students should feel confident and consistent with their Level 2 skills.

Students can expect to work on inversions such as high-v and Shoulder Mount prep, solidifying their Leg Hangs and Hip Holds, 3 point of contact repel moves like Butterfly and Extended Butterfly, more advanced spins one-handed spins, and longer combos higher up on the pole.

Students can expect to be a Level 3 student for two to three months before advancing to (Intermediate) Level 4

Intermediate Levels

Level 4

Formally known as “Low Intermediate”, Level 4 students should feel comfortable and confident in their one-handed spins, Laybacks, Leg Hangs, Hip Holds, and Extended Butterfly in order to build tricks and transitions from them. Level 4 students will have a greater focus on staying aerial throughout combinations and tricks and will start training Power Spins, aerial inversions and perfecting their Shoulder Mounts. Level 4 students will begin learning their first 2 point of contact repel move: Regular Grip Ayesha.

When students reach Intermediate status, graduating to the next level is very dependent on the students individual training and dedication. Levels 4-6 typically blur as some movements and spins come more naturally than others. If you’re not sure if you should take Level 5 after consistently attending Level 4, please discuss with your instructor on which classes are best for you!

Level 5

Formally known as “Solid Intermediate”, Level 5 students should feel comfortable and confident performing a variety of tricks based from their Leg Hang, Hip Holds, Extended Butterfly, and doing so aerially. One-handed Power Spins should feel easy to control and transition from. Students should be aerially inverting and performing Shoulder Mounts from the floor into Brass Monkey. Students should have near consistent Regular Grip Ayesha as students will begin to learn and master Ayesha’s (2 point of contact repel move) in new grips such as Forearm, Elbow, Cup, and Twisty Grip.

Level 6

Formally known as “High Intermediate”, Level 6 students should have a mastery in personal body awareness. Students should feel comfortable and confident performing Level 5 skills as they will become long aerial sequences in Level 6 with complex transitions into harder tricks that require greater strength and flexibility. Students should have their aerial inverts, aerial Shoulder Mounts, and at least three solid Ayesha (2 point of contact repel moves) grip variations they can confidently hold and working on mastering the others. Students will condition and learn inversions and “deadlifts” from these 2 point of contact repel moves.

Students can expect to be a Level 6 student until they have mastered Level 4-6 skills before advancing into (Advanced) Level 7.
